Creativity is arguably one of the most important skills we have as humans. Without creativity, nothing around us would exist. Creating allows us to innovate and solve problems in a unique and unforeseen way. Everything from the common car to the space shuttle that got us to the moon were all products of creativity.
Always be a student. To be creative, we need to learn about the world around us and develop our craft. This means we are always students at heart. No matter how much progress we make or how many achievements we reach, staying curious and learning more about what we don't know is how we reach new pinnacles of creativity.
Understand different perspectives. Creativity comes in all shapes and sizes. This means that those who are creative see differently than the rest of us. They view the world through a different lens, which helps to create new products and ideas. The best way we can mimic their lens is to understand different perspectives. From people to ideas, seeing different angles gives us more depth and insight.
Challenge the unknown. Part of being innovative is challenging what exists and chartering unknown territory. In almost every situation, creativity of new innovations were born from challenging what had already existed and creating something better or diving into waters no one had explored before. Creativity can be a risk, but it's the risk that keeps society moving forward.
We all have the ability to be more creative in our own ways. By developing this skill, we're able to do more than we thought was capable. Some of us may even change the world.
"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul." -Dieter F. Uchtdorf
