The Story We Tell Ourselves

The one thing that separates where we are and where we want to be is the narrative we play in our heads. We believe what we tell ourselves internally. When we believe we can't do something or we're not good enough, our actions play out that way. When we tell ourselves the story of how we're going to make it and that we're the kind of person who can achieve more, that's when the magic happens.

Awareness. Most of our thoughts are subconscious. We're not aware of what happens in the inner workings of our mind. When we become more mindful of how we think about ourselves, we change our thoughts to what we want. Every day will be a challenge, but practicing consciousness gives us the opportunity to make the change we've always wanted.

Change your story. We can think about how our lives will play out all we want, but the only thing that will matter is taking action. After we're aware of our thoughts, it's time to change the story. We need to believe in ourselves and what we're capable of. Not worrying about everyone else and focusing on ourselves creates the freedom we need. After we overcome this obstacle, the only thing left is to make it happen and do what it takes to become who we want to be.

We all have a story we tell ourselves. Many of us feel like we're not capable and may feel like our dreams are out of reach. Once we change our way of thinking, the flood gates open. We see the possibilities and everything becomes clear. All that's left is the work we need to put in.

"Who are we but the stories we tell ourselves, about ourselves, and believe?" -Scott Turow
