Our Inner Voice

We've all felt a similar feeling before. It’s the voice in our head that tells us what to do and what not to do. Our inner voice comes out all the time and instinctually feeds us. This intuition is something that can empower us to make better decisions if we listen.

What is the inner voice? Our inner voice may not necessarily be a "voice". It's usually a feeling, a hunch, or an inner guide. We've felt this voice inside of us our entire life. Sometimes it offers guidance for trivial situations and other times it helps us with more important matters.

Why should we listen to our inner voice? Our senses finely process the impressions we take in throughout the day. This creates the intuitive feeling we all experience. Because our mind subtly reads the situations around us, our intuition picks up on details we're not consciously aware of. This creates a powerful inner voice that we can trust and rely on most of the time.

Focus on our inner voice. When we listen to our inner voice, we should feel empowered and peaceful instead of fearful and doubtful. The decisions we make with our inner voice should draw us to positive people and experiences. This will take time, but the difficult choices we make by following our inner voice will lead to rich experiences and true fulfillment.

By honing in on the guide inside of us, we're able to make tough choices that lead to better places in the future. With exercise, meditation, and a focus on the present moment, we can clear the way to make the voice inside of us louder. Aligning our actions with our authentic self is the most powerful way to cultivate a meaningful life.

"An old Cherokee told his grandson, 'My son, there is a battle between two wolves inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies, and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy, and truth.' The boy thought about it, and asked, 'Grandfather, which wolf wins?‘ The old man quietly replied, 'The one you feed.'" -Unknown
